Load, Move, Unload…in 2 days

It took us roughly 1 week to pack up our house. About 6 days. Which was mostly out of our unwillingness to stay active at it for more than a few hours at a time. We just didn’t want to say goodbye to our house.
Or to our home town, our family, our friends, the places we grew up, the people of our childhood…and the sooner the house was empty the sooner that would all be a reality.
So we took our sweet time.
We packed books & movies the first night.
We took the second night off because we couldn’t figure out what to pack next.
Went and bought more boxes on the third day, and packed up anything hanging on the walls from pictures to shelves to sconces.
Started getting rid of stuff we didn’t need on the fourth day. Like Lexi’s baby-sized Halloween costumes, which I set aside for a friend, and gifts reluctantly accepted and never used, which went to the goodwill.
On the fifth day we started getting serious. We set aside clothes and bathroom necessities for a night at my mother’s house, and got down to business.
We packed up our room. All of our clothes, and everything that had been sitting on our dresser, nightstands, or shelves went into boxes.
We packed up the kitchen, all pots and pans, all silverware but the plastic, all plates but the paper, all our portable appliances like the coffee maker, the toaster, the blender. The bake ware, the glassware, etc. etc.
We packed up everything but Lexi’s room, because she can only sleep if everything in her room is where it should be.
On the sixth day we took a break. We watched movies. We had dinner at my mom’s (where they gifted us with money, out of the awesomeness of their hearts). And we went to a movie with friends (the Hangover 2, which was pretty funny, even though it followed the same pattern as the first one).

And then the real work started!
The truck came on the 7th day. And we filled it with boxes, our couches, our tables…And we realized we weren’t quite as packed up as we’d thought we were. Which was an unpleasant realization!)
We still had all of lexis room, her toys, clothes, wardrobe, bed, and bedding. We had our TV, our xbox360, our internet router. Our bed and bedding. We had to disassemble the dining room table to load it. The list goes on, and it was a mess.
Lucky for us (!) Cameron’s family paid their housekeeper to come clean our house for us instead of their own. I’ve never had someone else clean my house before! It was fantastic. She did a great job. And it took 3 hours of cleaning off of my to-do list that day.
They also paid a family friend to come mow our lawn for us, which was awesome.
And my mom and step-dad decided to surprise me with a new cell-phone.
Have I mentioned our families are super awesome??

Once the truck was loaded we took it to my parent’s house where we spent the night.
The next day we drove the 2 ½ hours here, unloaded the truck, and my family stayed to help unpack for a while before leaving to go home.

So now here we are. In a new town, with new people. In an apartment, soon to be with a room mate. With 1,100$ in bills, and currently no job.
Life is scary, and new, and exciting. Stay tuned!

posting gone mobile!

So my lovely mother got me a cell phone the day before the move, which has already been a life saver! We still have two days to wait before we get internet, so this is via my new samsung.
We moved 2 days ago, and we've been settling in ever since. We still have a ways to go.
But i made stew last night which was delicious, so i can already see the changes that the move has stimulated!
There will be a much longer post once I've got my computer up and running.
Til then!

Stress induced ickies

So we are packing up the UHAUL today, and of course I'm sick to my stomach and stuck in the bathroom.
I hate that I'm that stressed out about this.
I'm so stressed about moving that my body is purging all it can from my body.
UGH.
And also,
GROSS.

Also, fingers crossed for us being able to move tomorrow as we'd planned. Our work verification hasn't gone through yet! We don't want to be stuck bumming off of family members for a few days while our stuff is all packed away.

Super short post, but I had to share!

We're MOVING

So, do you remember how excited we were to buy our first house? Do you remember how hard we worked on it? Do you remember how much we l.o.v.e. it?
Did I not share all that with you?
My bad.
Well, none of that matters anymore.

Cameron's job in Organic Food Distribution was good. It was family oriented which we loved. He enjoyed his work. It had great benefits. It paid the bills.
But that was IT. We've lived on no extras for the nearly 4 years we have been married.
For instance:
I have no makeup other than what my sisters/mother-in-law have given me of their leftovers.
We do not go out to eat ever.
We go grocery shopping once a week and aside from bills that is the only money we spend.
My daughter almost didn't get summer clothes, and I was going to cut the sleeves off of her long-sleeved shirts, and the legs off of her jeans, but my wonderful mother brought over a bag of brand new summer clothes for her so that didn't have to happen.
This was not working anymore to say the least.

Sooooo, Cameron has decided to become an Air Traffic Controller.
The closest schooling for that is 2 hours away. So guess what? We're moving 2 hours away.
Byebye house.
*sniffle*
Hello apartment.
*sniffle*
And room-mate.
*sniffle sniffle*

Yep. We're renting out the house we love. Signed the lease agreement with the renters two days ago.
And we move on SATURDAY.
That's in 3 days.
3 DAYS.
Everything is happening SO fast!
We've spent the last three weeks looking for renters, creating lease agreements, looking for apartments, filling out applications, packing, filing for financial aid, registering Cam for classes, and driving up and down the 4 hour round-trip drive to the place that will be our new home.
Our first home away from our families.
It's scary.

I still don't have my license which makes it scarier, but I am working on it. Got my permit renewed (again), and I drove around our neighborhood the other day.

On top of all this, Cameron had to have emergency surgery to have his appendix taken out.
This was an ordeal in itself because he was in extreme pain for nearly 24 hours before they figured out what was wrong.
They thought we were trying to scam pain meds. =/
Not cool.

Anyway, I'm hoping to start posting more often now that I've revamped the blog. Stay tuned!

Colds for all

Everyone in the family is either sick or getting over being sick. :( Two little girls down the street who got sick at the same time as the monkey were diagnosed with pneumonia so we took her to the doctor yesterday and (YAY!) she's actually getting better. Tonight we watched The Cosby Show after dinner (the first time for the monkey) and she loved it. She wanted to watch it again, "one more time mommy!" It was very cute.

Tomorrow starts our weekend, I'm very excited! When husband gets home from work tonight we will probably watch a Roswell episode or two before hitting the hay. Then tomorrow we begin shopping for new flooring tile for the entryway/kitchen/bathroom/laundry room (the new house we bought wasn't well taken care of and the linoleum that is everywhere is terribly chipped, scuffed, and marred). It's a project we've been saving up for and I'm so excited to finally get started on it! It's the last thing to be done in the entryway, the first thing to be done in the bathroom which needs a major overhaul, and the last thing for now in the kitchen although eventually we plan to completely remodel it. It's all about taking it one project at a time. Slowly but surely our poor little 1939 mill-family home is becoming more beautiful and comfortable. The hardwood floors we did (ourselves!) in the living room are particularly wonderful. :) Who would have thought that at 21 I would about to celebrate my 4th anniversary with my wonderful husband, have a lovely 2-year-old girl, and own my own home?

I'm the luckiest woman in the world, bar none.

Quote of the day

"If your idea of a role model is somebody who's gonna preach to your kids that sex before marriage is wrong and cursing is wrong and women should be this and be that, then I'm not a role model. But if you want your girls to feel strong and intelligent and be outspoken and fight for what they think is right, then I want to be that type of role model, yeah."

- Megan Fox

Well, that's my idea of a role model.

Editing posts to match my edited life

So, I found a site that actually changed my life. Which makes me a TOTAL loser, but I don't care. It's called Violent Acres, and you may have heard of it seeing as its been around for 4 years. I however, had not, and that is a horrible injustice seeing as had I discovered it earlier, my backbone would be stronger at this very moment. Not my physical backbone, although I'm sure you knew that. So check it out, but be warned, she is a BITCH. Seriously. She'll probably offend you. But I love her!

I have TONS going on right now, and I love it! We are closing on our first house in less than two weeks!! Needless to say we are freaking excited. We are also getting a puppy (which my mom thinks is the worst idea ever), a female black lab that we are going to name Keara (it means dark, which we think is fitting!) Also, today is mine and husband's 3rd anniversary! We didn't do anything for it today, but next week monkey is staying with her Mimi and we are going to the beach for 3 days. It will be the first time we have both stayed the night away from her, so it's going to be bittersweet.

Hopefully I'll remember to keep posting, if only for family to read! Lol.
